Facilities

Tralee Equestrian Centre is a purpose built facility designed around the horse and rider. Both Padraig and Nicola personally designed the centre after having many years of working and managing barns in Ireland, the UK and Australia. With every stable yard there are good and bad points so they had the experience of 30 years between them and the advantage of a blank canvas to work with.

Our indoor school (a necessity in county Kerry!) measures 20m X 60m is the largest Indoor riding school in the county. From the beginning Padraig and Nicola insisted on bringing a new, professional quality to the county and were the first centre in Kerry to install a customised riding surface. It comprises a blend of silica sand, rubber crump and rubber fibre mix allowing your horse to travel on top of the surface - rather than through it. The rubber allows for excellent cushioning when jumping or performing dressage movements, the fibre binds the sand to prevent looseness and movement whilst the silica prevents compaction. All in all a magic surface to ride on and leg injuries are non existent!

They also intended looking after the rider during the construction of the centre! At Tralee Equestrian Centre we have two viewing galleries - one at ground level and one raised overlooking the school and heated for your comfort! Continuing our theme of raising the levels of Equestrianism in the county we were the first (and currently still are) to install training mirrors in our Indoor school. These mirrors are a vital aid to any amateur or professional alike and are also an invaluable training aid for riders of all levels.

Back to the Horse! We have 2 American barns in our self contained centre. The first Barn is sized at 160 ft x 30ft. It has 22 stables (c/w sliding doors and automatic water drinkers) at a gracious size of 13ft X 10ft each and a large pasageway ensuring safe access for the biggest of horses. All stables are surfaced with rubber matting and kiln-dried sawdust and/or woodshavings. It is a big airy barn subscribing to the horseman's mantra of "living indoors in an outdoor environment". Yorkshire boarding throughout ensures a good air flow with no "stuffiness" and "unwanted aromas"!

The second barn is comprised of 2 large indoor turnout areas. It is sized at 120 ft x 30ft and also has ample room for storage of bedding and forage. Similar to the first barn it is big bright and airy with Yorkshire boarding and automatic water drinkers throughout.

Our tack rooms are fully equipped with all the necessities for today’s horse owner. They are big and timber lined keeping your leather nice and cosy! We ensure they are not cluttered (with ample room for liveries tack boxed etc) and are comfortable for our customers. Security is paramount and the doors are reinforced with metal grills over all windows and are locked at all times. Ladies and Gents toilets are available for customer use as is an electric shower.

Perhaps our biggest facility is our location, 10 minutes drive from the capital of county Kerry, Tralee town. We have the advantage of riding in quiet countryside, sandy beaches and windy country lanes. Our stables back onto 100’s of acres of mountains where the only automation may be your mobile! You are within ten minutes ride of being able to see Tralee town and bay beneath.
